Scripture:
“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7 (ESV)
Devotion:
Being a giver isn’t just about money. It’s about living with open hands and an open heart. Whether you’re giving your time, your love, your encouragement, or your resources, generosity reflects the very nature of God.
When we give, we partner with Him in blessing others. Jesus Himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). This kind of giving doesn’t drain us—it fills us. It reminds us that we are stewards, not owners, and everything we have comes from God anyway.
Givers shift atmospheres. A kind word, a helping hand, or a small act of service can brighten someone’s day and point them back to the goodness of God. And here’s the beautiful part: when we give from the heart, God multiplies it. Not always in material return, but in peace, joy, and the deep satisfaction that comes from obedience.
Reflection:
-
What can you give today that goes beyond money?
-
Is there someone who needs your time, your kindness, or your encouragement?
-
Are you giving cheerfully or out of obligation?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being the ultimate Giver. You gave Your Son for me. Help me to reflect Your generous nature in all that I do. Teach me to give joyfully, freely, and in faith, knowing You’ll use it for something greater than I can imagine. Amen.
